Prepress Workflow

Introduction to Prepress

Color Separation

Literally separating the areas of a piece to be printed into its component spot and process ink colors. Usually in the four-color process arena, separate film holding images of one specific color per piece of film. Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. Can also separate specific PMS colors through film.

Color Correction

Process to improve or correct color of scanned images

Film output

Outputting films using image setters, a high resolution device that prints directly to plate ready film.

Press Proofing

Making test sheets to reveal errors or flaws, predict results on press and record how a printing job is intended to appear when finished.
